PCB assembly prep: confirm FPC connector footprint, source it, and get vendor quotes

Medium priorityDeadline: Aug 7, 2026

Goal: get the 16-taxel tactile PCB assembled by a vendor, since the FPC connector is too fine-pitch to hand-solder.

Steps:

  1. Install EasyEDA Pro (JLCPCB's free tool, desktop or browser) and open both .eprj projects.
  2. Confirm the connector footprint in the PCB matches Amphenol ICC (FCI) SFY18R-4STBE1HLF (18-pos, 0.5 mm pitch, top-contact, right-angle; DigiKey 609-5200-1-ND) — pin count, pitch, contact style, orientation.
  3. Check current stock and lead time for that exact MPN at DigiKey and Mouser (it's out of stock at JLC, so we'll buy it and consign it to the assembler). Flag near-equivalent SF-series parts but don't treat them as drop-ins.
  4. Export the Gerbers, BOM, and pick-and-place files.
  5. Collect 2-3 assembly quotes from houses that accept consigned parts (PCBWay, Screaming Circuits, MacroFab).

Report back with the footprint confirmation + stock status and we'll pick the sourcing path together.
